This presentation provides some key background information about the formation of the CALM Act and the basis for measuring CALM Act compliance. It also describes how loudness has been defined and measured in current standards and regulations, the latest progress in FCC rule making, and how these apply to cable service providers. It will also describe loudness as measured in units of LKFS, Dialnorm metadata, Gating, and other key new terms that Plant Operators need to know for both minimizing trouble calls and achieving CALM compliance.
