Overview

Multi-dimensional video quality management™ is a necessity in any video distribution network to help reduce operational expenses and improve subscriber satisfaction through rapidly isolating and troubleshooting video quality issues. For video distribution networks that include ASI and RF technologies, multi-dimensional video quality management can be achieved by using a combination of IneoQuest ASI and QAM Singulus Crickets, along with the iVMS™ Video Management System.

The iVMS Video Management System connects to multiple Crickets which can be strategically deployed across the video distribution network to automate real-time video quality assessment, fault identification and troubleshooting. The iVMS provides real-time access to Crickets for remote video analysis down to the MPEG/PID level.

The combination of ASI and QAM Crickets is used in monitoring and troubleshooting at the Headend, the edge and through to the subscriber premise.

To verify ASI video flows from the receivers that connect to encoders via SDI (baseband video), connect the receiver’s ASI port to an ASI Cricket and verify the signal directly from the receiver.

The QAM Cricket can be configured to recognize names of RF video flows by learning the RF channel frequencies and creating an alias reference table that matches the programs seen on the ASI Crickets.

Monitoring the status of all the video flows is easily done by configuring the QAM Crickets to scan through the learned RF channels for a period of time. For detecting specific problems on specific flows, the user can tune each QAM Cricket to the RF channel in the video program path and correlate it with a specific ASI Cricket.
