IQMediaMonitor™

Remote Video over IP Monitoring System

IQMediaMonitor is a real-time Streaming Video over IP monitoring solution capable of monitoring all video streams simultaneously on a fully loaded GbE network. IQMediaMonitor enables visibility into the video at the router/switch for ensuring QoS on Converged IP networks.

IQMediaMonitor is based on powerful, reconfigurable, state-of-the-art FPGA technology that ensures real-time operation in all situations. The advantage of Reconfigurable Technology is that as Video over IP matures, new and more advanced protocols and network mechanisms can be accommodated through software upgrades. This allows more flexibility for IQMediaMonitor to scale with evolving Video over IP technology.

IQMediaMonitor uses an IneoQuest Java Application that allows the user the ability to inspect all  video streams in a Gigabit Ethernet network from several remote IQMediaMonitor platforms. The IQMediaMonitor hardware platform runs stand-alone and supports SNMP v2. Measurements include MDI, bit-rate, packet loss, network utilization and more. IQMediaMonitor features several higher level functions including user permission log in, remote logging, ASI play out and IQ Remote Video Link.

IQ Remote Video Link (RVL)

IQMediaMonitor can extract video monitoring data from many remote Singulus G1-T / IQMediaMonitor devices configured for remote monitoring. The user can inspect what is playing on the network, general network statistics and several video over IP statistics.

IQ Remote Video Link, accessed in IQMediaMonitor, allows the user to remap a live Video over IP flow on a backchannel (Management Network) for local video decode and analysis. For addition network protection, this backchannel link is monitored by the Singulus G1-T / IQMediaMonitor to insure a user settable bandwidth limit on the flow forwarded on the RVL.

Figure 6.

RVL or Remote Video Link allows the user to forward video traffic to a specific location. This RVL checkBox allows the user to forward any video traffic to a remote monitoring location. The remote location can be a PC or any Singulus G1-T device. The Play ASI check-box allows the playback of a specified stream to a video decoder or MPEG analyzer in real time.

Figure 7. Remote video Link (RVL) is a simple way to forward Video from any location to a central monitoring station. The monitoring station can be a PC or Singulus. In this example, streaming media can be forwarded from either the Headend, Boston or New York to the NOC. Operators at the NOC can monitor video performance from any site

Distributed Network Monitoring

Distributed network operators need to verify program QoS at multiple, unmanned headend sites as maintenance operations are becoming increasingly more centralized. IQMediaMonitor with RVM technology is a scalable, cost effective solution for unattended operations. Any number of network nodes can be automatically monitored or program streams visually inspected for picture impairments.

Confidence and Diagnostic Monitoring

IQMediaMonitor provides the ability to automatically log IP network errors across multiple remote sites via full SNMP support. Log files are stored for later remote access and download for more depth analysis. Using multiple IQMediaMonitor systems throughout the IP network allows for continuous confidence monitoring and QoS correlation.
