SCTE, IneoQuest to Deliver Troubleshooting Digital Video, SDV, and MPEG Video Course
August 5, 2008 (Exton, PA, and Mansfield, MA)—The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and IneoQuest Technologies are pleased to announce today that they have teamed up to offer a timely new upcoming course titled “Troubleshooting Digital Video, SDV, and MPEG Video in the HFC Network.”
To meet the growing need among its members and the industry at-large for greater troubleshooting proficiency, SCTE chose IneoQuest as its professional development partner for this course because the company shares SCTE’s commitment to provide knowledge and expertise in digital video technology, a new method of IP video transport that will help cable operators reclaim network bandwidth.
The six-week course is one of the SCTE Virtual Classroom offerings and begins Monday, Aug. 18. Part of the SCTE Pd (Professional Development) menu of services, SCTE Virtual Classroom (formerly SCTE Distance Education) courses bring the learning to participants so they can stay on top of the latest technology without leaving their workplaces. They watch pre-recorded, narrated presentations at their convenience and participate in scheduled, live coaching sessions for direct interaction with the instructor.
This specific course targets technical operations managers, IT managers, IP engineering managers, transport managers, cable Network Operations Center (NOC) managers, and mid- to senior-level maintenance and headend technicians. Participants will gain a solid understanding of the technology, network architectures, common troubleshooting techniques, and maintenance issues found in a digital video, Switched Digital Video (SDV), and MPEG video network.
“The enabling technology behind SDV and MPEG Video is quite complex, and SCTE relishes its role in coming alongside technical personnel in our industry who require a greater understanding and working knowledge of progressive products and services,” said Hugh Brydges, SCTE director, advanced network technologies program development.
The course will explore the components and architectures that make up an SDV network, give real-world examples of how it works, and explain how digital video and MPEG video are being integrated within the HFC network. Attendees also will have access to trouble isolation and resolution techniques, as well as best practices for troubleshooting digital video, SDV, and MPEG video—both in the test lab and live in the field.
IneoQuest, a leader in video quality management and a global provider of advanced quality, service, and revenue assurance solutions for IP video, has worked with several top cable MSOs as they design, refine, and prepare their SDV networks for deployment and has compiled real-world best practices on SDV troubleshooting. IneoQuest is also proficient at creating educational courses and materials, having conducted several of its own web-based and classroom-based IP video training sessions and seminars for engineers.
“IneoQuest’s experience with SDV design, implementation, management, and maintenance, as well as its commitment to providing hands-on educational opportunities, was the reason SCTE selected us to work on this unique blended learning course,” said Gino Dion, vice president of strategic solutions for IneoQuest. “We look forward to helping SCTE educate its members and the industry on this important new technology.”
